Using Special Events to Cultivate Major Gifts

Presenter: Louis Fawcett, Senior Vice President of Principal Gifts,  EdVenture Children's Museum

Special events take tremendous time, energy, and resources from your organization and are often expensive! Other than a fun night out and some good exposure, what is your organization really getting from the event? Are event participants continuing to donate to your organization? This session takes you through the steps of building the right event committee, setting sponsorship levels, inviting the right guests, socializing with guests during the event, and (most importantly) turning your guests into major donors.

Learning Objectives

·    Build the right kind of event committee

·    Set the most beneficial sponsorship levels

·    Socialize strategically during the event

·    Cultivate event guests to become major donors

Louis Fawcett is Senior Vice President of Principal Gifts at EdVenture where he leads their fundraising efforts.  Louis is passionate about moving organizations forward to change and save lives.  Prior to joining the EdVenture team, he worked for nine years raising support for orphans and school children in China, Russia, Ethiopia, and Haiti.  Louis grew up in Virginia and graduated from Randolph-Macon College.  He also holds Masters degrees from Wake Forest University and the Lutheran Seminary in Columbia.  Louis is President Elect of the Central SC AFP Chapter and lives in Columbia with his three children.
