Learn the basics of using life insurance policies(current and new policies) to make a major gift along with the pros and cons of various methods. Real world scenarios of working with insurance companies, underwriting, development offices, and donors will be discussed. 


By the end of the luncheon, you will know how this process works and how to order illustrations (insurance proposals) for the donor’s consideration.





About the Speakers:


Mason Hardy,  Vice President | Creative Financial Strategies 


Mason B. Hardy is Vice President at Creative Financial Strategies in Columbia. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner (CFP®) and a CHARTERED RETIREMENT PLANNING COUNSELORSM designee (CRPC®), Mr. Hardy guides a variety of professionals, families, and business owners, through the various stages of wealth accumulation, protection, and retirement distribution in a tax-efficient and cost effective manner.


A graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, TN, Mr. Hardy previously served as the president of the South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO), the state’s only nonprofit association working to serve, support, and strengthen the sector by providing resources, trainings and public policy advocacy.  Mr. Hardy also previously served as the Executive Director of the Tuomey Foundation in Sumter and the Newberry Hospital Foundation where he initiated record-breaking annual giving campaigns and special events and drafted multiple successful grants.  He is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina, the Riley Institute’s Midlands Diversity Leaders Initiative through Furman University, and the Nonprofit Leadership Institute at Francis Marion University. He currently serves on the Boards of EdVenture Children’s Museum and he is a past board member of Leadership South Carolina, Columbia Rotary Club, and the Central South Carolina Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). He is an active member of the Columbia Rotary Club and Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia, SC.
